Autumn Brunch

Disclaimer: I am not a cooking expert. I just love food. This is not a recipe. I am only sharing what I made (and I didn’t do it alone – it was a team effort)

Hey guys,

I hope you are having an awesome day. It feels like Autumn is in full swing doesn’t it? This past Saturday, le boyfriend and I decided to be over-achievers and we set to make the biggest brunch we have ever had for just the two of us. So he did the groceries while I looked for recipes.

We put together a lot of little dishes and I can assure you, as much as we love eating (like fat kids), there was a lot left over. As I am typing this out, I literally just finished one bowl of leftovers.

Anyway, let’s get started:

To begin, Let me share all the main ingredients

Ingredients

First, I took care of the veggies: Broccoli, sweet potatoes, carrots, red onions and spinach. All sautéed in some olive oil and all the seasonings you deem necessary.

Next, I sautéed some chicken sausages in olive and very little onions ( in reality, I hate onions but my mom and sister taught me the necessity of cooking with onions and I also quite like the smell of the

Next up it’s the French Toast! In French it’s called “Pain perdu” which literally means “lost bread”. It’s usually made from stale bread or leftover bread that is a few days to avoid losing (throwing away the bread altogether). The recipe is everywhere on the internet (check pinterest). It’s one of the easiest snacks to make.All you need are eggs, milk, cream, maybe some sugar and of course the bread 🙂

Time for my all time favourite dish. Anybody that knows anything about me knows I can eat plantains all day everyday all year long 🙂

Then we made a bowl of avocado salad with tomatoes, cucumber and cheese. We also grilled some chicken breasts.

To finish off, a fruit salad: kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, melon, redcurrant, bananas and lemon. I can assure you, we are still munching on these fruits a day later.

And there you have it! We thoroughly enjoyed all this food and then we couldn’t do anything else but take a super power nap because, well what else can you do after all this right? Let’s call this an experiment, next time around I’ll be sure to invite people over to avoid entering a food coma 😀
